HORSEBACK RIDES

Come enjoy riding through the Shenandoah mountains with cool shaded trees, crossing a creek and riding alongside a waterfall. When riding at the ranch, guests enjoy the tranquil setting of the woods, often spotting wildlife such as bears, turkeys, deer or raccoons. Our horses are fitted for beginner riders and we have options for all ages. Rides take off directly from the ranch and follow our trail into the beautiful national forest.
Prices of rides vary from $40 - $500 per rider and are subject to change without notice.

Reservation & Cancellation Policy
Trail Ride Policies
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled ride time.
This allows ample time for check-in, waiver completion, helmet fitting, and a mandatory safety orientation. To ensure rides depart on schedule, late arrivals may not be accommodated.

No refunds or cancellations will be issued for late arrivals, missed rides, or canceled reservations.
Weather Policy
Trail rides operate in most weather conditions, including rain and snow. Because our horses and wranglers are prepared specifically for each scheduled ride, we do not cancel rides due to typical weather. For the safety of our guests and staff, rides may be delayed by up to 30 minutes in the event of thunderstorms or other severe weather. If conditions remain unsafe, we will determine the appropriate course of action at that time.

Frequently Asked Questions
"Are helmets required?"
Yes, Fort Valley Ranch requires all riders to wear helemets. You may bring your own or use our provided helmets.
"Can we trot or gallop?"
No, all of our trails are walking only trails for the safety of our guests and horses.
"What if I am a beginner?"
No problem. Fort Valley Ranch has the right horse for you, from beginners to advanced riders.
"What ages can ride?"
Our 1 hour ride is for ages 7 and up, while our 1.5 hour ride is for ages 7 and up.
"Is there buddy riding?"
No, we offer 1 horse per rider for the safety of our guests.
"What about rain?"
We do take rides out in the rain. In the event of thunder or lightning, we will postone the ride until it passes.
"What rides do you offer?"
We offer a 15 minute hand led pony ride great for ages 2-6. A 1 hour, 1.5 hour, and 1/2 day (3/3.5 hour) trail ride, suitable for beginners or advanced riders.
"Do you provide refunds?"
Fort Valley Ranch's policy requires all guests to pay in full upon booking and does not provide refunds. For late arrivals or circumstances, please call the office (540) 933-6633.
